Mr. Clyne was born in Yale, Michigan in 1948 and has been a lifelong resident of
St. Clair County. After earning a B.A. from Central Michigan University in 1969,
he graduated from Wayne State University in 1972 with a J.D. He was admitted to
the practice of law in Michigan in 1972 and has been admitted to practice in the
Federal Courts, including the U.S. Supreme Court.
Mr. Clyne has been active in school and community affairs including being elected to serve
on the St. Clair County Board of Commissioners from 1974 to 1978, and being
appointed to serve as the St. Clair County Public Administrator for the State
of Michigan from 1998 to 2000. A member of the St. Clair County Bar Association,
Mr. Clyne served as a member of its Board of Directors from 1981 to 1988, and
has served as member of the St. Clair County mediation panel for many years.
He is also a member of the American Bar Association and a member of various
practice sections of the State Bar of Michigan related to his areas of practice.
Mr. Clyne has specialized in elder law,
including nursing home/Medicaid law, trusts, estate tax planning and probate,
municipal law and real estate law. He has received a Certificate of Completion
in the areas of probate and estate planning issued by the Institute of
Continuing Legal Education and the Probate and Estate Planning Section of the
State Bar of Michigan. He devotes a substantial amount of time to
the creation and administration of trusts to avoid probate, to minimize death
taxes and to protect assets while qualifying for Medicaid nursing home benefits.
